Microsoft Launches Copilot 3D to Turn 2D Images into 3D Models

Intelligence: Microsoft released Copilot 3D in Copilot Labs, a free tool that converts a single 2D image into a downloadable 3D model.

• Copilot 3D is available globally at no cost through Copilot Labs, requires a personal Microsoft account, and works in major mobile browsers though Microsoft recommends using a desktop.

• It transforms images you own the rights to into GLB 3D models compatible with common viewers, design tools, game engines, and Microsoft Paint 3D.

• Supported inputs are PNG and JPG under 10 MB, with best results from images featuring a single subject, even lighting, and a plain background; artwork often performs better than photos.

• Workflow is straightforward: upload an image, create the model, inspect it from different angles, then download or recreate; if generation fails, try a different image.

• Generated models appear on the My Creations page and can be deleted manually; otherwise, they are removed after 28 days.

Nvidia Unveils Cosmos Reason and a New Robotics AI Stack

Intelligence: Nvidia announced new AI models, libraries, and servers for robotics, led by Cosmos Reason, a 7 billion-parameter reasoning vision language model for embodied AI.

• Nvidia expanded its Cosmos world models with Cosmos Reason for planning and reasoning in physical settings, plus Cosmos Transfer 2 for faster synthetic data generation and a distilled version optimized for speed.

• The models are designed to produce synthetic text, image, and video datasets to train robots and AI agents, supporting data curation, robot planning, and video analytics.

• Cosmos Reason pairs memory with physics understanding so it can plan the next steps an embodied agent should take.

• New neural reconstruction libraries include a rendering technique that uses sensor data to simulate the real world in 3D, with integration into the open-source CARLA simulator and an updated Omniverse SDK.

• New infrastructure targets robotics workflows, including the Nvidia RTX Pro Blackwell Server for a unified architecture and the Nvidia DGX Cloud for managed cloud-based development.
