Ox Alpha Landed on OpenRouter and Nobody Will Say Who Built It
Intelligence: A new AI model called Ox Alpha showed up on OpenRouter this week with no name attached to it, and the internet has spent days trying to figure out who's actually behind it. Between conflicting theories, a high-profile shoutout, and a listing that offers no real answers, the guessing game has become its own story.
Ox Alpha appeared on OpenRouter as a free model billed for coding, agentic work, and production use.
The listing itself credits it to an anonymous third-party provider, with no company name disclosed.
Stripe CEO Patrick Collison called the model "very impressive" on X, adding fuel to the speculation despite Stripe's pending OpenRouter acquisition.
Early theories centered on Z.ai's GLM models before analyst Andrew Curran noted the consensus had already started to crumble within a day.
A Wccftech report first pointed to GLM, then updated to suggest the model could instead be an unreleased version of Microsoft's MAI.
Reddit threads are split down the middle, with one post insisting Ox Alpha "can't be" Chinese and another claiming high confidence that it is.

Tenet Is Harvey’s First Post-Trained Model, Built on Kimi K3
Intelligence: Harvey has spent 6 months building its own open-weight legal model instead of leaning entirely on frontier labs, and the first results are in. The company says the model, called Tenet, beats its Kimi K3 base by a wide margin on long, document-heavy legal tasks while cutting costs dramatically.

Tenet is a post-trained version of Kimi K3, built together with Fireworks research specifically for long-horizon legal work.
The model completes almost twice as many held-out tasks on Harvey's LAB benchmark compared to the untrained Kimi K3 base.
On LAB Contracts, Tenet posts a state-of-the-art score, and it places second overall on the full LAB benchmark.
A separate memory-trained model built with Engram cut token usage by 58% while reducing cost per query by 90%.
For high-volume document review, a related post-trained model improved citation quality by 12.1 points at roughly one-tenth the cost per cell.
On the hardest M&A diligence tasks, where no baseline model had ever cleared 43.8%, the post-trained system pushed pass rates to 60.1%.
