Salesforce to Acquire Fin Bringing a Purpose-Built Customer Service AI That Already Resolves 76% of Support Queries End to End
Intelligence: Salesforce announced it is acquiring Fin, formerly known as Intercom, for approximately $3.6 billion, adding a battle-tested AI customer service agent to its Agentforce platform that already resolves 76% of support queries without human involvement.
Fin's AI Agent handles complex customer queries end to end across live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, phone, and Slack, powered by its own proprietary model called Apex that reportedly outperforms GPT-5.4 and Claude Sonnet 4.6 on customer support benchmarks.
The deal brings over 30,000 existing business customers into Salesforce's orbit, along with a technical AI team that Salesforce says will directly complement the Agentforce product line.
Agentforce itself hit $1.2 billion in ARR in Q1 FY27, up 205% year over year, and Fin's faster-to-deploy packaging gives Salesforce a stronger offering for smaller businesses that need to get up and running quickly without a complex enterprise setup.
The deal is expected to close in Q4 of Salesforce's fiscal year 2027, pending regulatory approval, with no anticipated impact on the company's existing financial guidance.

Meta Rolls Out AI Mode for Facebook Search , AI Photo Editing, and New Creative Tools
Intelligence: Meta rolled out a wave of new AI features on Facebook including AI Mode, a new way to search that pulls synthesized answers from public posts and Groups instead of showing a list of links.
AI Mode lets users ask questions in plain language and get answers generated from what people are actually saying across Facebook, which is useful but raises real questions about accuracy since the source material comes from everyday users rather than vetted content.
New AI photo editing tools let users change outfits, hairstyles, and accessories on their profile pictures, including a sports jersey feature where fans can virtually wear their favorite team's kit directly from Stories.
Meta has been shipping Facebook AI features at a fast pace, including animated profile pictures in February, an AI reply tool for Marketplace sellers in March, and a creator assistant earlier this month that suggests posting times and summarizes audience comments.
The broader play here is clear. Meta wants AI to make Facebook harder to leave, and it is also building toward new revenue streams, with subscription plans starting at $3.99 a month now live across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and more AI-specific tiers reportedly coming.
