Ramnandan Krishnamurthy and Maximor Push AI Agents to Replace Excel in Finance

Intelligence: Maximor, founded by former Microsoft executives, emerged from stealth with a nine-million-dollar seed round to automate finance workflows and reduce reliance on Excel.

• Maximor connects AI agents directly to ERP, CRM, billing, payroll, and accounting tools such as NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks, and Zoho Books to pull transactions continuously and unify operational and financial data.

• The platform generates workpapers, reviewer notes, and audit trails, supports GAAP and IFRS, and remains interoperable with Excel so teams can export reconciled data in familiar formats.

• Early results include Rently cutting its month-end close from eight days to four, avoiding two additional accounting hires, and shifting nearly half the team’s time to strategic work.

• The company offers a human-in-the-loop option with accountants for review or full-service accounting, while positioning the agents as self-sufficient preparers and people as reviewers.

• Funding totals $9 million, led by Foundation Capital, with participation from Gaia Ventures, Boldcap, and angels including finance leaders from Ramp, Gusto, MongoDB, Zuora, Big Four firms, plus Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas and Zuora CEO Tien Tzuo.

OpenAI Rolls Out Parental Controls and a Parent Resource Page for ChatGPT

Intelligence: OpenAI is introducing parental controls for all ChatGPT users, allowing parents to link to their teen’s account, set age-appropriate safeguards, and access a new resource hub.

• Parents and teens can link accounts by invitation, so parents manage settings from their own account, and parents are notified if a teen unlinks.

• Linked teen accounts get stronger default protections that reduce graphic content, viral challenges, sexual, romantic, or violent roleplay, and extreme beauty ideals, which only parents can turn off.

• Parents can customize quiet hours, disable voice mode and memory, remove image generation, and opt out of model training to limit how data is used.

• A new alert system flags potential self-harm risks for human review and can notify parents by email, text, and push, with limited information sharing and a developing process for involving emergency services when there is an imminent threat.

• A new parent resource page explains how ChatGPT works and safe use ideas, and OpenAI is building an age prediction system to apply teen settings automatically, and will default to teen settings when the user's age is uncertain.
