HeyGen's New Tool Builds an Entire Studio Show Around Synthetic Hosts

Intelligence: HeyGen wants to hand marketing and training teams a finished podcast episode without anyone touching a camera, a script or an editing timeline, and it's betting nobody will mind that the two hosts on screen aren't real.

  • Feed it a topic, a URL or a PDF and the system writes the dialogue, assigns two AI hosts, drops in captions and B-roll, and hands you a finished widescreen video in minutes.

  • You can still rewrite any line, swap who says what or adjust the tone before it renders, so the output isn't a total black box.

  • Behind it are Joshua Xu and Wayne Liang, two CMU classmates who met while Xu studied robotics and Liang studied human-computer interaction, and Xu has said his own discomfort in front of a camera helped shape the whole company mission.

  • HeyGen says it passed $200 million in annual recurring revenue this June, doubling in eight months, with more than 30 million users and adoption across 85% of the Fortune 100.

Martha Stewart's New Startup Hint Handles Every Part of Home Upkeep

Intelligence: Martha Stewart has put her name on a new AI app for managing a home, and the interesting part isn't the funding or the founders, it's how involved she actually is.

  • Hint builds a profile of the home the moment someone enters the address, pulling in public data like soil composition, air quality, and weather and drought risk that could affect the foundation, lawn drainage or insurance rates.

  • Upload photos of the appliances and the app walks homeowners through maintenance most people don't know they need, like vacuuming out a refrigerator's coils to prevent a fire hazard or flushing a water heater on schedule.

  • The app builds a personalized maintenance calendar that sends reminders as things come up, plus a "home score" that shows at a glance how well someone's keeping up with it all.

  • The built in AI assistant can dig through uploaded documents to answer things like what a household is paying per kilowatt hour or whether tapping home equity through a HELOC makes sense.

  • Backing the app is $10 million from investors including Points Guy founder Brian Kelly, Montauk Capital and Slow Ventures, alongside CEO Yih-Han Ma, a former Red Ventures exec, and CTO Kyle Rush, who previously built tech for the Obama and Hillary campaigns.

  • Stewart isn't a figurehead here, she visits twice a week, holds real equity, and will personally flag it when the app gets something wrong about soil or home care.
