Perplexity Computer Orchestrates Multiple AI Models to Run Workflows for Hours or Months
Intelligence: Perplexity has launched Perplexity Computer, a system that unifies every current AI capability into a digital worker that can create and execute entire workflows for hours or months. Computer operates software like a human co-worker, breaking outcomes into tasks and creating sub-agents for execution that work asynchronously across research, document generation, data processing, and API calls.
Perplexity Computer uses intelligent multi-model orchestration, running Opus 4.6 for core reasoning while deploying specialized models for specific tasks, Gemini for deep research, Nano Banana for images, Veo 3.1 for video, Grok for speed, and ChatGPT 5.2 for long-context recall.
When Computer encounters problems, it creates sub-agents to solve them autonomously, finding API keys, researching information, coding apps if necessary, and only checking in when truly needed.
Every task runs in an isolated compute environment with access to a real filesystem, real browser, and real tool integrations, creating a safe harness for powerful AI.
The system is model-agnostic and allows users to choose specific models for specific subtasks as token budgets become more important across different roles.

Intelligence: OpenAI has disrupted covert influence operations and scams using its AI models, including a large-scale Chinese influence operation that used multiple AI models and platforms, including Chinese law enforcement-linked ChatGPT accounts, to target dissent and critics worldwide. The campaigns involved hundreds of staff and thousands of fake accounts conducting online harassment, forgery, impersonation, and mass posting.
Chinese operations aimed to silence critics domestically and abroad through resource-intensive efforts that combined AI with traditional tools like websites and social media accounts.
Romance scams, including "pig butchering," used AI-generated messages to attract and manipulate victims via social media, SMS, and ads, with a network in Cambodia spreading on social media.
Content farms linked to Russia translated and posted AI-generated content across platforms including X and Telegram, though engagement varied and depended more on account activity than AI use alone.
OpenAI found that threat actors typically use AI in combination with other traditional tools rather than limiting activity to one platform or model, using different AI models at various workflow points.
The company disrupted operations by banning accounts linked to malicious activities and analyzing online activity patterns to help the industry identify and avoid such threats.
