Perplexity Search Launches Perplexity Labs for Enhanced Research and Project Development
Intelligence: Perplexity Search has unveiled Perplexity Labs, an innovative tool designed to help users transform ideas into actionable projects through advanced research and analysis capabilities.

Aimed at users seeking to bring comprehensive ideas to life, enabling tasks like report generation and app development.

Labs can write and execute code, making it possible to structure data and create various document types automatically.
Useful for diverse tasks, including marketing campaigns, financial analysis, and week-long meal planning.
While Deep Research (now simply called Research) offers fast answers in minutes, Labs is focused on deeper engagement and more complex deliverables, typically requiring over 10 minutes of use.

DeepSeek Enhances AI Competitiveness with R1-0528 Update
Intelligence: Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has announced an update to its R1 reasoning model, intensifying competition in the AI market against US giants like OpenAI and Google.

The R1-0528 update reportedly enhances DeepSeek's reasoning and inference capabilities, positioning it more closely to leading models like OpenAI's o3 and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro.
The "minor trial upgrade" was publicly shared in a WeChat group and reported by Bloomberg, with an invitation for users to test the new version.
The update improves complex task management and reduces "hallucinations," or false outputs, by 45-50%, particularly in summarizing and rewriting tasks.
DeepSeek added functionalities for creative writing, front-end code generation, and role-playing tasks, further expanding the model's utility.
The initial R1 model’s viral launch impacted technology stocks and shifted perceptions about the resources needed for successful AI models, prompting rivals like Alibaba and Tencent to introduce competing offerings.
