OpenAI Shares Practical Steps For Governing and Funding AI Workflows As They Scale
Intelligence: OpenAI published guidance for enterprise leaders on investing in AI more effectively, arguing that useful work per dollar matters more than token price alone. The guide outlines five practices, including sharpening visibility into usage and spend, evaluating model efficiency by outcome, governing workflows before they scale, funding workflows that compound, and matching capacity to proven demand.
OpenAI says the price per million tokens fell 97% from GPT-4 to GPT-5.4, with GPT-5.6 continuing that trend using fewer output tokens and less time per task.
The guide recommends admins use updated usage analytics and spend controls in the Admin Console to track adoption, credit usage, and spend by user, product, and model.
OpenAI advises evaluating models based on cost per accepted outcome rather than lowest token price alone, since cheaper models may require more retries or review.
ChatGPT Work gives admins centralized controls over access, approved context, connected tools, permitted actions, usage, and spend.
OpenAI recommends funding AI workflows like a portfolio, with exploration, validation, and production stages tied to increasing levels of investment.
For production workloads, OpenAI points to options like Guaranteed Capacity, Scale Tier, Batch API, and Prompt Caching depending on usage patterns.

OpenAI Launches the Codex Micro, a $230 Keyboard Built for Managing AI Coding Agents
Intelligence: OpenAI launched a $230 light-up keyboard co-designed with Work Louder to help users manage their Codex coding agents, and OpenAI describes it as a limited-run collaboration rather than a mass market product.
The keyboard features light-up Agent Keys showing agent status, customizable Command Keys for frequent actions, a joystick for launching workflows, and a dial for adjusting agent reasoning level.
A separate and more significant hardware device, reported by Bloomberg, is described as a portable, screenless smart speaker with moving mechanical elements still in development.
The reported device is being designed in part by former Apple engineers, and Apple has sued OpenAI over alleged trade secret theft related to its hardware plans, which OpenAI denies.
