Google's Vantage Uses Simulated AI Conversations to Measure the Human Skills
Intelligence: Critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity are widely agreed to be the most important skills for the future, but schools have never had a reliable way to measure them. Google's new research experiment Vantage uses AI simulated conversations to assess those skills and in a study with 188 students, its scores matched human expert raters just as closely as the experts matched each other.

Students interact with AI avatars in realistic scenarios like pitching an idea or resolving a conflict rather than filling out a test.
A background AI steers the conversation in real time to surface the specific skills being assessed.
A separate AI evaluator scores the conversation using the same rubric a human expert would use.
NYU validated the approach and found the AI scores were on par with those of trained human raters
A second study with 180 students on creative writing tasks showed the same high accuracy.
Vantage is free, available now in English on Google Labs, and open to high school and college students.
