Moonshot’s Kimi K3 is Closing the Gap with Leading US Frontier Models
Intelligence: Chinese AI startup Moonshot unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion parameter model it calls the world's largest open-weight AI system, with performance the company says approaches Anthropic's Fable 5.
Moonshot said Kimi K3 performed competitively with Fable 5 and substantially outperformed Opus 4.8, GPT-5.6 Sol, and GPT-5.5 on GPU kernel optimization tasks.
Independent evaluations showed strong results too, with Arena.ai ranking it first for web interface building and Vals AI placing it second overall behind Fable 5.
The model features a 1 million token context window and is designed for advanced reasoning, long horizon coding, and knowledge work.
Running the 2.8 trillion parameter model locally would reportedly require hundreds of thousands of dollars in computing equipment, limiting who can self-host it despite its open-weight release.
Moonshot is reportedly seeking $2 billion in fresh funding at a roughly $30 billion valuation ahead of a potential Hong Kong listing.

Roblox Launches Build, a Mobile-First AI Tool that Turns Prompts into Playable Games
Intelligence: Roblox introduced Build, a new mobile-first creation tab that lets anyone turn a text prompt into a playable game directly within the Roblox app. Build shares a backend with Roblox Studio and is powered by a mix of open-source and proprietary Roblox AI models that handle gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, and sound, with testing beginning July 28.
Build allows creators to type a prompt like a game concept and automatically generates a starting point they can iterate on, playtest, and publish.
Roblox's proprietary AI models are trained on a large set of 3D and gaming-specific data, letting them generate functional 3D objects and full scenes that integrate into working games.
During alpha testing, Build will be available to age-checked users 9 and older, with published games available to age-checked users 16 and older after passing safety review.
Select Build features, including publishing, launch in public alpha in New Zealand starting July 28, with wider rollout planned over the coming months.
Roblox also plans a playtesting agent, an analytics agent, and an experiment agent for professional creators across Build and Studio.
A base version of Build will be free, with additional paid options for power users.
