Microsoft Develops New AI Features Ahead of Build Conference Amidst Strained OpenAI Relationship
Intelligence: Microsoft’s upcoming Build developer conference is anticipated to showcase significant AI innovations, particularly in light of recent tensions between Microsoft and OpenAI regarding the integration of generative AI across its platforms.

The Build conference will take place from May 19 to 22, featuring keynote sessions available for free online.
Last year's event highlighted important advancements, including Copilot integration into Microsoft Teams and AI capabilities for Windows and PCs.
Analysts expect deeper integrations of Copilot's generative AI across Microsoft’s services, aimed at enhancing consumer and enterprise offerings.
In November, Microsoft raised prices for key software products like Office 365 and Windows 365 by 5%, suggesting that new AI functionalities may justify these increases.
Microsoft's trials with alternative AI models from companies like xAI, Meta, and Anthropic indicate a potential shift in its strategy to minimize reliance on OpenAI technology.
Copilot may soon feature enhanced "agentic" abilities, allowing it to perform routine PC tasks autonomously, based on findings from noted tech leaker TestingCatalog.
The company is also exploring a set of proprietary AI models known as MAI, which may be offered via an API, potentially unveiled at Build.

Introduction of HealthBench Benchmark to Enhance AI Performance in Healthcare
Intelligence: A new evaluation tool called HealthBench has been developed to accurately measure the capabilities of AI systems in healthcare, resulting from collaboration with physicians worldwide.

Source: HealthBench
HealthBench aims to evaluate AI's effectiveness in health-related interactions by simulating realistic conversations between AI models and users or clinicians.
Created in partnership with 262 physicians from 60 countries, the benchmark comprises 5,000 health conversations assessed with a rubric designed by medical experts.
Goals for HealthBench evaluations include producing meaningful scores that reflect real-world impacts, ensuring trustworthy results aligned with physician judgment, and providing opportunities for model improvements.
Each model response is graded based on 48,562 criteria, which encompass various performance aspects such as accuracy and communication quality.
Comparison against physician responses indicates that while AI models have achieved significant success, they still exhibit gaps compared to expert clinical judgment, particularly in underspecified queries.
