Microsoft Expands Copilot with Anthropic Models
Intelligence: Microsoft is adding Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 to Microsoft 365 Copilot alongside OpenAI models, giving customers model choice in Researcher and in Microsoft Copilot Studio.

Copilot remains powered by OpenAI’s latest models and now also supports Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 for deep reasoning and agent tasks.
Researcher agent can run on either OpenAI or Anthropic models and lets users switch models after they opt in to support complex multistep work across the web, third-party data, and Microsoft 365 content such as emails, chats, meetings, and files.
Copilot Studio offers Anthropic models to build, orchestrate, and manage enterprise agents and supports multiagent systems and prompt tools to mix models from Anthropic, OpenAI, or options in the Azure Model Catalog.
Availability is rolling out via the Frontier Program for Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed customers who opt in. Admins can enable access in the Microsoft 365 admin center, with model selection available through a dropdown menu.
Anthropic models are hosted outside Microsoft-managed environments and are subject to Anthropic’s Terms of Service.

NYU Stern and GoodFin Find Frontier AI Models Can Pass CFA Level III Mock Exams
Intelligence: A new study reports that several advanced language models can pass CFA Level III mock exams, overcoming the essay section that previously held models back.

Researchers from NYU Stern and GoodFin evaluated 23 large language models on multiple-choice and essay questions from mock CFA Level III exams.
Frontier reasoning models, including o4 mini, Gemini 2.5 Pro, and Claude Opus, achieved passing performance when prompted with chain-of-thought techniques.
Earlier studies showed AI could pass Levels I and II but struggled with Level III due to constructed response essays, and the new results narrow that gap.
Models produced passing answers in minutes, while humans typically require about 1,000 hours of study over several years to clear the three parts.
Results apply to mock exams rather than official CFA administrations, showing capability under test-like conditions but not certification.
Findings highlight rapid gains in model reasoning that could affect finance workflows and assessment design.
