Microsoft Launches Copilot Cowork for Coordinated Microsoft 365 Actions With Human Oversight

Intelligence: Microsoft launched Copilot Cowork in Research Preview, an execution layer built on top of Copilot that turns a described outcome into a background plan with checkpoints, letting enterprises delegate multi-step work across Outlook, Teams, Excel, and the rest of Microsoft 365 without giving up approval control at each stage.

  • Cowork is powered by Work IQ,which draws on signals across a user's emails, meetings, messages, and files. It handles tasks ranging from calendar triage and meeting prep to deep company research and full product launch coordination, with all actions auditable and sandboxed within Microsoft 365's existing security and compliance boundaries.

  • Cowork converts a single natural-language request into a structured plan with clear checkpoints, running tasks in the background while surfacing recommendations for user approval before anything is applied letting users run a dozen workflows in parallel without losing visibility or control over what Copilot is doing on their behalf.

  • For meeting preparation, Cowork pulls inputs from email, calendar, and files to produce a full connected package, briefing document, supporting analysis, client-ready deck, and a draft status email with attached files all saved in Microsoft 365 so teams can refine and align before the meeting happens.

  • For research tasks, Cowork gathers earnings reports, SEC filings, analyst commentary, and news with an emphasis on primary financial data, then delivers an executive summary formatted for email, a structured research memo with assumptions and citations, and a labeled Excel workbook replacing hours of manual assembly with outputs ready to use immediately.

  • Microsoft frames Copilot's multi-model architecture as a core differentiator, positioning Cowork as evidence that enterprise AI execution is not limited to any single model provider but instead routes to whichever model is best suited for each job, a pattern the company expects to become more powerful as new models emerge.

  • Built in close collaboration with Anthropic by integrating the technology behind Claude Cowork, Copilot Cowork will be more broadly available through the Frontier program in late March 2026.

OpenAI Brings Promptfoo's Enterprise Security Tools In-House

Intelligence: OpenAI announced the acquisition of Promptfoo, an AI security platform trusted by over 25% of Fortune 500 companies, with plans to integrate its red-teaming and evaluation tools directly into OpenAI Frontier as enterprises increasingly require systematic ways to test agent behavior, detect risks before deployment, and maintain auditable records for governance and compliance.

  • The acquisition brings automated red-teaming and security testing natively into the Frontier platform, enabling enterprises to identify risks including prompt injections, jailbreaks, data leaks, tool misuse, and out-of-policy agent behaviors as a built-in part of building and deploying AI coworkers rather than a separate step.

  • Promptfoo's evaluation capabilities will be woven directly into development workflows so security and risk identification happen earlier in the build process, shifting agent oversight from a post-deployment audit function into a continuous part of how enterprise AI systems are developed and iterated on over time.

  • Integrated reporting and traceability will give organizations a structured way to document testing, track behavioral changes across model versions, and meet the growing governance, risk, and compliance expectations that enterprises face as AI agents take on more autonomous roles in real workflows.
