Hi {{first_name|everyone}},Grok might not always be the one answering your questions anymore, and the reason SpaceX seems fine with that says a lot about where its AI business is heading. Next, we've got a couple of updates from Google and OpenAI, a few handy tools, and one of the more interesting AI creations we've come across lately. Time to dig in!

🤿 DEEP DIVE

Grok Doesn't Have to Do Everything

Elon Musk's AI strategy has an interesting second angle.

So apparently, Grok doesn't always need to be the AI answering your questions anymore.

Which is a little funny, considering Elon Musk was predicting just a few weeks ago that Grok 5 would surpass all its competitors.

Okay, so Musk announced that Grok Bot, the company's AI agent service, will start choosing between different AI models depending on what someone asks it to do.

And we're not just talking about different versions of Grok.

The available options include Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5, image generator MidJourney, and AI music maker Suno. Grok 4.7 is presumably in the mix too, although Musk didn't specifically confirm that.

The idea is pretty straightforward. Ask something simple, and the system sends it to a smaller, faster model. Ask something complicated, and it picks a more powerful one. Basically, Grok becomes the thing deciding which AI should handle the job, rather than necessarily doing the job itself.

But there's another part to this

SpaceX has already spent enormous amounts of money building AI infrastructure, including its massive Colossus data center.

And apparently, other AI companies are using it too.

Earlier this year, SpaceX reportedly reached an agreement allowing Anthropic to use Colossus to train and run Claude. Yes, the same Anthropic that Musk previously called "evil."

Musk also confirmed that Reflection AI trained its new open-source model, Beam, on Colossus servers.

So there's an interesting connection here.

SpaceX isn't just building its own AI models. It's also providing the computing infrastructure that other companies use to build theirs.

And renting out that computing power could be a much simpler business than trying to make money directly from Grok.

Two different ways to play the AI game

I think that's the part worth paying attention to.

On one side, Musk is still pushing to develop a leading AI model. There's no indication SpaceX is abandoning that ambition, and he's reportedly even changing SpaceXAI's name to SpaceXSI to reflect its pursuit of superintelligence.

But on the other side, the company is building a setup where Grok can use competing models while SpaceX supplies infrastructure to companies developing their own.

Those are two pretty different approaches.

One is about building the best AI. The other is about providing the system that helps people access AI, and the computing power that helps other companies run it.

And given Grok's history of controversial outputs, letting other models handle some requests adds another interesting wrinkle.

It doesn't mean Musk is giving up on Grok. But it does mean SpaceX's AI business doesn't necessarily have to depend entirely on Grok being the best model.

The quick take

  • Grok Bot is becoming a multi-model agent, selecting different AI models based on the task.

  • Claude Opus 5.5, MidJourney, and Suno are among the models Musk named.

  • SpaceX is also supplying AI infrastructure, with Anthropic and Reflection AI using its Colossus data center.

  • The bigger idea is that SpaceX could pursue two AI businesses at once, developing its own models while providing infrastructure and access to others.

Your SOC 2, handled end to end with AI agents.

Enterprise buyers won’t put your product near their customer data without a SOC 2 report. Twenty-one state privacy laws now hold them accountable for the vendors they share data with, so their diligence lands on you.

Sprinto gets you audit ready in 14 days, across three working sessions. AI agents connect your stack, collect the evidence auditors ask for, and close the gaps as they appear. You approve, they execute.

Sprinto also answers the security questionnaires your buyers send, using the same evidence base, so security reviews stop holding up deals.

⚡ QUICK HITS

The latest in AI, tech, and productivity worth knowing

  • Google has opened its SynthID Detector to everyone, letting people check whether images, videos, or audio were created using AI from Google or partners including OpenAI and NVIDIA. The technology uses invisible watermarks, and Google says it has already marked more than 180 billion images and videos.

  • OpenAI has introduced GPT-6 with something called Intelligent UI, which means ChatGPT can respond with interactive charts, maps, calculators, and even simple games instead of just text. It can also start answering while it's still thinking through a question. The rollout begins with paid users before expanding to free accounts.
