Intelligence: xAI released Grok 4.6, an update aimed less at raw intelligence gains and more at endurance, keeping agents working through research, coding, and design tasks across many steps without losing the thread.

Grok 4.6 went through a longer supplemental training run than its predecessor, with curated data focused on reasoning and engineering concepts.
xAI used Grok 4.5 to regenerate training examples across different reasoning efforts and technical domains, then filtered out flawed traces before fine-tuning.
The model trained on agentic tasks spanning kernel optimization, computer-aided design, and web development, not just general coding.
On longer tasks, xAI noticed Grok 4.6 starting to test and verify its own work partway through, rather than only at the end.
Pricing lands at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, with a faster variant running double that.
Grok 4.6 matched GPT-5.6 Sol on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, a composite score built from nine separate benchmarks.

Intelligence: OpenAI is previewing Ultrafast, a new API tier that runs GPT-5.6 Sol dramatically faster than standard processing, aimed at the kinds of decisions that fall apart if the model can't keep pace with what's happening in real time.
Ultrafast runs on Cerebras hardware and generates up to 750 output tokens per second.
Early access went first to a small group of customers working in coding, commerce, financial research, and customer support.
OpenAI's own incident response teams use it to read logs and synthesize engineer reports while an outage is still active.
A research workflow that used to mean launching experiments overnight and checking results the next morning is shifting into same-day iteration.
Access remains limited during the preview, with OpenAI expanding capacity gradually rather than opening it broadly.
