Google's New Project Genie Lets Ultra Subscribers Create Interactive AI Worlds
Intelligence: Google rolled out Project Genie to U.S. AI Ultra subscribers (18+), an experimental prototype powered by Genie 3 that lets users create, explore, and remix interactive worlds generated in real time as they move and interact. Unlike static 3D snapshots, Genie 3 generates the path ahead dynamically while simulating physics and interactions with breakthrough consistency enabling any real-world scenario from robotics to historical settings.

Source: Google
The prototype integrates "World Sketching" with Nano Banana Pro for precise control. Users preview worlds and modify images before entering, define character perspectives (first-person or third-person), and choose movement modes from walking to flying to driving and beyond.
Users can remix existing worlds by building on their prompts, explore curated gallery worlds for inspiration, adjust cameras while traversing, and download videos of explorations—though generations are currently limited to 60 seconds as an early research model.
Known limitations include worlds that don't always look true-to-life or adhere to prompts/real-world physics, characters with less controllability or higher latency, and some announced Genie 3 capabilities like promptable events that change worlds not yet included in the prototype.
Building on trusted tester feedback from across industries who created impressive worlds and uncovered new use cases, Google aims to understand how people will use world models in AI research and generative media, with plans to expand to more territories and make experiences accessible to more users over time.

Microsoft Posts $81B Revenue but Investors Question $72B AI Infrastructure Spend
Intelligence: Microsoft reported $81.3 billion revenue (up 17%) and record-breaking $50 billion+ cloud revenue, but the stock dropped as investors questioned whether $72.4 billion spent on capital expenditures this fiscal year (nearly matching last year's full $88.2 billion) will pay off. CEO Satya Nadella said demand for AI services across products far outstrips data center supply, with new equipment booked to capacity for its lifespan.

Much of the spending serves AI to enterprises and major labs like OpenAI and Anthropic, but both Azure and Microsoft 365 segments fell short of investor expectations raising concerns amplified by recent reports that people don't really want to use Microsoft's AI despite Copilot being woven into products.
Nadella said consumer Copilot daily users grew "nearly 3x year-over-year" but didn't specify actual numbers, while GitHub Copilot reached 4.7 million paid subscribers (up 75% year-over-year) and Microsoft 365 Copilot has 15 million paid seats out of 450 million total paid seats.
Dragon Copilot, Microsoft's healthcare AI agent competing with startup Harvey, is now available to 100,000 medical providers and documented 21 million patient encounters over the quarter, up threefold year-over-year.
UBS analyst Karl Keirstead noted "the fact that BOTH Azure and the M365 segments fell a bit short is the key negative" but still recommends buying the stock, as Nadella engaged in what's best described as AI use PR during the earnings call.
