Google DeepMind’s Gemini AI Achieves Gold Medal Performance at the International Mathematical Olympiad
Intelligence: Google DeepMind’s advanced AI model, Gemini Deep Think, has made headlines by solving five out of six problems at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), earning an official gold medal score and surpassing previous AI achievements in mathematical reasoning.

The IMO is the world’s leading math competition for high school students, featuring challenging problems across various mathematical fields. The President of the IMO praised the AI’s solutions as clear, precise, and easy to follow, noting the system met the rigorous standards of the competition.
In 2024, DeepMind’s AlphaGeometry and AlphaProof systems earned a silver-medal equivalent but required manual translation between natural language and formal proofs, with solutions taking days to compute.
In 2025, Gemini Deep Think became the first AI system whose solutions were officially graded and certified by IMO coordinators, achieving 35 out of 42 possible points, a score within the top 8% of competitors.
Unlike previous attempts, Gemini operated entirely in natural language, solving the problems end-to-end, matching the 4.5-hour competition time without translation or expert intervention.
Gemini Deep Think employs advanced reasoning techniques, including “parallel thinking,” which lets the AI consider multiple potential solutions simultaneously.
The model was trained using reinforcement learning on a large set of multi-step reasoning and theorem-proving data, with access to curated high-quality mathematical solutions.
A trusted group of mathematicians will test Deep Think before its broader release to Google AI Ultra subscribers.

Amazon Acquires Bee AI to Expand in Wearables and Generative AI
Intelligence: Amazon has confirmed it will acquire Bee AI, a San Francisco-based wearables startup known for its AI-powered wristband, marking another push by tech giants to personalize artificial intelligence through consumer devices.

Bee AI produces a $49.99 AI wristband, similar in appearance to a Fitbit, that uses microphones and generative AI to create summaries, reminders, and to-do lists from conversations.
Bee CEO Maria de Lourdes Zollo announced the deal, highlighting the company’s vision for highly personalized AI technology.
The acquisition continues Amazon’s expanding AI strategy, joining offerings such as Nova AI models, Trainium chips, the Bedrock model marketplace, and an AI-enhanced Alexa voice assistant.
Amazon’s smart home brand Ring is also adding generative AI to some of its products.
