Google Launches Personal Intelligence

Gemini finally launches what we all expected, a “personal” intelligence. The idea is that when you ask Gemini things, it has the context of all your emails, calendars, and your photos.

Similar to this news, almost as if it was planned, Slack introduced Slackbot… similar but it also has the context of your CRM (thanks to Salesforce).

Gemini Now Connects Gmail, Photos, and YouTube

Intelligence: Google rolled out Personal Intelligence as a beta feature for US AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, letting users connect Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search to Gemini with a single tap. The feature combines reasoning across complex sources with specific detail retrieval

• Privacy design keeps personal data local at Google rather than sending it elsewhere, with the model trained on prompts and responses after filtering personal information, meaning it learns to locate a license plate when asked, not memorize your specific plate number.

• Users control exactly which apps connect and can turn off personalization for specific chats or use temporary chats without personalization, with Gemini attempting to reference sources so users can verify where answers came from.

• Google acknowledges current limitations including "over-personalization" where the model connects unrelated topics and struggles with timing or nuance like assuming you love golf because of hundreds of golf course photos when you're actually there for your son.

• The feature works across web, Android, and iOS with all Gemini models, expanding later to more countries, free tier users, and AI Mode in Search, while remaining unavailable for Workspace business, enterprise, or education accounts.
