Google’s Agentic Vision Inspects Images Step-by-Step
Intelligence: Google introduced Agentic Vision in Gemini 3 Flash, transforming image understanding from a single static glance into an active investigation where the model formulates plans, generates Python code to manipulate images (cropping, rotating, annotating), and appends transformed images back to context for inspection. Enabling code execution delivers a consistent 5-10% quality boost across most vision benchmarks.

The feature operates through a Think-Act-Observe loop: analyzing queries and initial images, executing Python to manipulate or analyze them (running calculations, counting bounding boxes), then inspecting transformed data with better context before generating final responses.
PlanCheckSolver.com, an AI building plan validation platform, improved accuracy 5% by using Gemini 3 Flash to iteratively crop and analyze high-resolution patches (roof edges, building sections), appending crops back to context to visually ground reasoning and confirm building code compliance.
The model can draw bounding boxes and numeric labels directly on images as a "visual scratchpad", when asked to count fingers, it executes code to annotate each digit identified, ensuring answers are based on pixel-perfect understanding rather than probabilistic guessing.
Google plans to make behaviors like rotating images and visual math fully implicit (currently requiring prompt nudges), expand to more model sizes beyond Flash, and add tools including web and reverse image search to further ground understanding.

Google Adds Gemini Sidebar and Autonomous Browsing to Chrome
Intelligence: Google embedded Gemini into a persistent Chrome sidebar (replacing the floating window) that understands multiple tabs as context groups for price comparisons, while launching auto-browse for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers that handles tasks by using personal information and traversing websites autonomously. The sidebar now reaches Chromebook Plus users after being limited to Windows and macOS.

Personal intelligence integration coming in "coming months" will connect Gmail, Search, YouTube, and Google Photos accounts, letting users ask Gemini in the sidebar about family schedules or draft and send emails without switching to Gmail.
Auto-browse can go to websites, buy items, find discount coupons, and handle tasks like scheduling appointments, filling forms, collecting tax documents, getting contractor quotes, and filing expense reports, asking for intervention only during data-sensitive tasks like logins or final purchases.
Google confirmed Chrome's password manager and saved card details support the feature but emphasized AI models wouldn't be exposed to these credentials, addressing security concerns as browser-based agents remain finicky and often fail to complete tasks in real-world use.
Nano Banana integration launching today allows users to modify existing images with another image or product found while browsing, while the Gemini sidebar support rolls out immediately with personal intelligence features arriving in coming months.
