A GitHub Outage Landed Hours After Cursor Rolled Out Its Rival Hosting Platform

Intelligence: Cursor rolled out its own code hosting platform on the same Monday GitHub suffered a six-hour-and-forty-two-minute outage that knocked out pull requests, Copilot and enterprise login. The timing was coincidental, but it dramatized the argument behind Origin, and raised a harder question about who now holds the source code once Cursor decides to keep it.

  • Origin lets agents read, comment on and revise pull requests inside the same editor where the code was written, without opening a browser tab.

  • Vercel, Depot and Buildkite integrated on day one, and all of them run existing GitHub Actions workflows unchanged.

  • Origin mirrors GitHub's permissions and keeps GitHub as the source of truth, syncing pull request comments in both directions within seconds.

  • Internal data cited by RuntimeWire found 35% of pull requests merged inside Cursor were opened autonomously by agents.

  • Origin rolled out to all paid users by default, with enterprise admins required to opt out rather than opt in.

  • Cursor completed a $60 billion acquisition by SpaceX three days before Origin shipped, and a Mindgard-disclosed git.exe flaw it declined to patch remains unresolved.

Warp's New Platform Automates the Standard Phases of Software Development

Intelligence: Warp introduced Warp Factories, an infrastructure layer meant to make building and running an AI software factory as simple as plugging in a coding model and a ticketing system. The company is betting that smaller teams without Stripe or Ramp's engineering resources will pay for a system that automates the hardest infrastructure decisions already.

  • The system organizes agent work around five phases: triage, specification, implementation, review and verification.

  • Warp Factories works with multiple coding models and harnesses, including both Codex and Claude Code.

  • It integrates with Linear, Jira, Slack and Teams so agent output plugs into workflows teams already use.

  •   Managers can compare agent configurations against each other and track token spend across the entire factory.

  • The system includes self-improvement loops that let it optimize its own management process over time.
