Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke Launches Entire with Record $60M Seed Round
Intelligence: Thomas Dohmke, who left GitHub as CEO in August 2025, launched Entire with a $60 million seed round (largest in developer tools history) led by Felicis with participation from Madrona, Basis Set, and Microsoft's M12 venture arm. The open-source platform reimagines developer-agent collaboration with a three-layer system including a new Git-compatible database, semantic reasoning layer, and user interface built for tracking agent reasoning processes.

The first product, Checkpoints, integrates with Claude Code and Gemini CLI (Open Codex support coming) to automatically extract and log agent reasoning, intent, and outcomes solving what Dohmke calls the "review bottleneck" where shipping code is slowed by reviewing agent-written code rather than writing it.
Unlike GitHub built for human-to-human interaction, Entire addresses how advanced developers now use a dozen agents in parallel, storing not just code but the reasoning behind it in a globally distributed network of nodes for data sovereignty rather than centralized repositories.
Dohmke stressed his GitHub departure was amicable after a "nice conversation" with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in June, explaining he felt "the itch to be a founder again.
With funding closed, Entire plans to double headcount from fifteen to thirty employees while expanding its team to "hundreds of agents," with Dohmke noting leaders must now think of headcount as salaries, benefits, travel, expenses, and tokens as engineers spend thousands of dollars monthly on tokens.

New Research Shows AI Increases Workload Despite Productivity Promises
Intelligence: An eight-month study of 200 employees at a U.S. tech company found AI tools consistently intensified work rather than reducing it, with workers taking on broader tasks, working at faster pace, and extending work into more hours without being asked creating unsustainable workload creep leading to cognitive fatigue, burnout, and weakened decision-making. The company didn't mandate AI use but workers did more because AI made "doing more" feel possible and rewarding.

Three main intensification forms emerged: task expansion where product managers and designers began writing code while engineers spent more time reviewing "vibe-coding" colleagues, blurred work boundaries as prompting during lunch felt like chatting rather than formal tasks, and more multitasking as workers managed several active AI threads at once.
Workers slipped small amounts of work into moments that had been breaks, sending a "quick last prompt" before leaving desks so AI could work while they stepped away creating a workday with fewer natural pauses and more continuous involvement with work that felt less bounded and more ambient.
One engineer summarized the trap: "You had thought that maybe, oh, because you could be more productive with AI, then you save some time, you can work less. But then really, you don't work less. You just work the same amount or even more."
Researchers recommend companies adopt an "AI practice" with intentional pauses (requiring one counterargument before major decisions), sequencing (batching non-urgent notifications to protect focus windows), and human grounding (protecting time for listening and dialogue to counter depleting, individualizing effects of fast AI-mediated work).
