Aravind Srinivas and Perplexity Launch Email Assistant for Max Subscribers
Intelligence: Perplexity launched Email Assistant for Max subscribers to bring an AI-driven personal assistant into the inbox that drafts, organizes, schedules, and answers questions while keeping users in control.

Email Assistant is available now for Max subscribers and connects on phone and computer with Gmail and Outlook, turning inbox tasks into actionable workflows.
Perplexity cites early Comet adoption, showing users completing 3–18 times more questions and tasks per day, positioning Email Assistant as a similar productivity boost for email.
Core capabilities include drafting replies, auto-drafting to help start messages, smart labels that surface what needs action, meeting scheduling by cc'ing the assistant, and natural language queries about your inbox.
The assistant learns your tone, communication preferences, and calendar habits to suggest meeting times and tailor responses and labels to how you work.
Privacy and security are emphasized through SOC 2 and GDPR compliance by default, along with a policy that ensures data is not used for training purposes.
Getting started is simple for Max subscribers by emailing [email protected] and adding the assistant to threads to handle back-and-forth coordination while maintaining user oversight.

Sundar Pichai and Google Launch Gemini for TV
Intelligence: Google introduced Gemini for TV on Google TV, bringing conversational assistance to the big screen beyond Google Assistant, starting on TCL QM9K with more devices later this year.

Gemini enables free-flowing voice conversations to find content, ask questions, brainstorm plans, and control entertainment using Hey Google or the remote microphone.
Entertainment use cases include group-friendly recommendations, instant catch-up summaries for returning seasons like Outlander, vague searches by description, and follow-up questions such as getting reviews for titles like The Pitt.
Learning features pair answers with supporting YouTube videos for school projects, beginner skills like guitar, and quick kitchen ideas, such as desserts under an hour.
Google Assistant functionality remains, while Gemini shifts TVs from simple commands to conversational help across an ecosystem powering over 300 million active Google TV and Android TV OS devices.
Users engage directly on the TV to reduce friction in content discovery and decision-making, with deeper integration into Google TV search and recommendations.

Sam Altman and OpenAI Secure Nvidia Investment and Chip Supply
Intelligence: Nvidia will invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI through non-voting shares and supply at least 10 gigawatts of data center systems, a move that boosts OpenAI’s compute access and raises competition and antitrust questions.

The deal structure ties investment to chip purchases, with an initial $10 billion after a definitive agreement, OpenAI’s latest valuation at $500 billion, and a letter of intent to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems.
Deliveries begin as soon as late 2026, with the first 1 gigawatt in the second half of 2026 on Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform, a scale whose power draw equals more than 8 million U.S. households.
Strategic implications include OpenAI securing compute and cash to sustain its lead while Nvidia gains a financial stake and demands visibility, though analysts warn of circular concerns about investment dollars returning as chip revenue.
Antitrust risk is in focus as the DOJ and FTC have set the stage for potential probes of Microsoft, OpenAI, and Nvidia, with experts cautioning the pact could entrench Nvidia’s chip dominance and OpenAI’s software lead, while the Trump administration has signaled a lighter competition stance.
The competitive context remains dynamic as OpenAI continues custom chip work with Broadcom and TSMC and keeps its Microsoft partnership, while Nvidia deepens ties across the industry, including collaborations with Intel and prior backing of OpenAI in a $6.6 billion round.
Market reaction was positive for Nvidia shares, up to 4.4 percent, and Oracle, up about 6 percent on its Stargate exposure, while Broadcom dipped 0.8 percent.
