Netflix Uses Generative AI to Accelerate Production of Films and Shows

Intelligence: Netflix announced it is actively using generative AI to create scenes in its movies and series, citing notable improvements in speed and cost, and demonstrating the technology in the Argentine show “El Atonata.”

• Netflix used generative AI to produce a building collapse scene for “El Atonata,” creating the final footage 10 times faster and at a lower cost than traditional methods.

• Co-CEO Ted Sarandos emphasized that AI helps real creators do better work, enhancing production through tools for visual effects, pre-visualization, and shot planning, previously accessible mainly to big-budget projects.
