ChatGPT Launches Record Mode for Audio Summaries
Intelligence: ChatGPT’s new Record Mode for macOS enables users to record, transcribe, and summarize meetings or voice notes directly within chat, generating editable canvases that can be used to create emails, project plans, or code with built-in privacy controls and workspace-specific settings.

Record Mode is available on the macOS desktop app for Enterprise, Edu, Team, and Pro users, with gradual rollout and up to 120 minutes per session at no extra cost.
Users can capture live audio, transcribe it in real time, and generate a structured canvas that can be edited or transformed into formats like emails, project plans, or code.
The feature supports multiple speakers and currently performs best in English, with improving support for additional languages.
Audio files are deleted after transcription, while transcripts follow workspace retention policies and are accessible via Compliance API for Enterprise and Edu.
Record Mode is disabled by default for Enterprise and Edu workspaces but can be enabled by workspace owners, and users can opt in to “Reference record history” for smarter follow-up conversations.

China’s Livestreaming Scene Shifts to AI Avatars
Intelligence: A Chinese entrepreneur earned over $7.6 million using a digital AI avatar in a livestream, surpassing his previous human-hosted efforts and signaling a pivotal shift in China’s booming livestream and virtual human industry.

Chinese livestreaming pioneer Luo Yonghao and his co-host used AI-generated avatars of themselves in a six-hour Baidu Youxuan stream, earning 55 million yuan ($7.65M), more than his prior human-hosted stream.
The avatars were built using Baidu’s generative AI model trained on five years of video data to mimic the hosts’ tone, jokes, and style, delivering a highly realistic experience.
AI avatars significantly reduce costs by eliminating the need for studios or production crews, and they can stream for hours without breaks, thereby boosting efficiency and scalability.
China’s livestreaming commerce sector is booming, with platforms like Douyin overtaking JD.com in sales and rivaling Alibaba, while companies like Tencent are also entering the digital human space.

Midjourney Launches Its First AI Video Model, V1
Intelligence: Midjourney has officially launched V1, its first AI video generation model that transforms images into five-second videos via Discord, marking its bold step into video and positioning itself against major players like OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo.

Midjourney’s V1 model generates four five-second videos from a single image and is now available to all users via Discord, starting at $10/month.
Users can animate images automatically or use text prompts for manual control, and videos can be extended to a maximum length of 21 seconds.
V1 introduces settings for camera and subject motion, with options like “low motion” and “high motion” to customize animation style.
While V1 emphasizes creativity over commercial use, its pricing model charges 8x more for video generations than images, with unlimited access only on higher-tier plans.
The launch follows a lawsuit from Disney and Universal, accusing Midjourney of generating images that depict copyrighted characters.
