ChatGPT's New Image Model

How you can use it work + other Q&A

Did you know that we have LinkedIn and X accounts that you can follow?

Hi everyone,

Today’s format is going to be a bit different, based on some great feedback that we’ve heard from you.

The first thing to share is that ChatGPT has launched a new image model, probably to compete with Nano Banana, and I have a few comparisons that you’ll want to see down below.

Google is also creating its own AI assistant, given that people who use Google probably have their mail, calendar, and files all in one place. So it’s a great way to integrate an AI assistant into your life.

Let’s get right into it.

🤿 DEEP DIVE

OpenAI launches a new image model

Intelligence: OpenAI has released GPT-Image-1.5, a faster and more precise image generation and editing model that significantly improves instruction following, text rendering, and real-world usability for creators and teams.

  • Image generation is now up to 4× faster, reducing iteration time and making exploratory creative work and rapid prototyping far more practical in day-to-day use

  • Instruction following has improved meaningfully, enabling more complex compositions like structured grids, multi-object layouts, and precise relationships between elements without prompt gymnastics.

  • Text rendering is substantially better, supporting dense and small text, which unlocks practical use cases like infographics, posters, mock newspapers, and marketing layouts that previously broke down.

Q&A

Q: What’s the difference between Copilot and Copilot Studio?

A: Copilot is an AI assistant that lives where you work, so it’s available in Word, Excel, Outlook, and so on. Copilot Studio is Microsoft’s platform for building customized agents. Think about how you use PowerPoint to create slides; you would use Microsoft Copilot Studio to create personalized AI agents that do things for you.

Q: Any quick way to prep for 1:1s using AI?

A: Yes. After each week, dump rough notes about each report into your AI tool with a prompt like:

“You’re my chief of staff. Summarize key wins, risks, and suggested talking points for my next 1:1 with [name]. Keep it concise and concrete.”

Save the outputs in a single doc, skim before your 1:1, and update as you go. You keep continuity across weeks without rewriting everything from scratch.

Q: Do people actually use image generation for work, or just to create funny pictures of their kids and dogs?

A: It definitely has some very useful work applications, especially if you work in a space where you need to create assets like these. But even if you don't, it's actually really helpful for creating things like infographics, graphics, posters, and just adding any visual element to your work.

For example, here's an infographic. Here's a poster I made for an employee town hall that I had to organize. Instead of making it on Canva, I just got Nano Banana to make it for me instead.
