OpenAI Debuts ChatGPT Pulse as a Proactive Personal Research Assistant
Intelligence: OpenAI is previewing ChatGPT Pulse for Pro users on mobile, a feature that proactively researches and delivers personalized daily updates based on your chats, feedback, and connected apps.

Pulse runs nightly research using your memory, chat history, and feedback to deliver focused updates the next day, such as follow-ups on frequent topics, quick dinner ideas, or steps toward goals like training for a triathlon.
You can curate what shows up by requesting topics with the curate control, asking for specific roundups or interests, and giving thumbs up or thumbs down, with an easy way to view or delete your feedback history.
Optional integrations with Gmail and Google Calendar are off by default and can be toggled in settings, enabling suggestions like a sample meeting agenda, birthday gift reminders, or restaurant picks for upcoming trips.
Each morning, you get a concise set of topical cards to scan or open for detail, and updates are available for that day only unless you save them as a chat or ask follow-up questions.
Safeguards and limits include safety checks on topics to avoid harmful content and a preview label that acknowledges it will miss at times, with user guidance helping it improve over time.

OpenAI Unveils GDPval to Measure AI on Real-World Economic Tasks
Intelligence: OpenAI introduced GDPval, a new evaluation that measures how AI models perform on realistic, economically valuable knowledge work, and released a gold subset and grading tools to encourage external benchmarking.

GDPval shifts focus from academic tests to grounded evidence by scoring models on real work outputs across occupations, aiming to track near-term economic impact rather than speculate about the future.
Scope includes 44 occupations across 9 major US industries with 1,320 tasks and 220 in an open-sourced gold set, built from real deliverables such as legal briefs, engineering blueprints, customer support conversations, and nursing care plans with reference files and outputs like documents, slides, spreadsheets, and multimedia.
Tasks were authored by experienced professionals averaging 14 years in their fields and passed about 5 rounds of expert review, yielding 30 tasks per occupation in the full set and 5 in the gold set.
Occupations were chosen from industries contributing over 5 percent to US GDP using BLS and O*NET data, selecting roles with the highest wages that are predominantly knowledge work, based on a 60 percent threshold.
Evaluation relies on blind expert graders with occupation-specific rubrics, plus a research automated grader and a public grading service; experts remain the standard, while the automated grader estimates human preference.
