People are saying this is akin to Apple’s App Store. Individual developers are now also able to build their own apps for ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Launches App Directory to Become an ‘Everything App’

Intelligence: OpenAI has launched a ChatGPT App Directory and opened its SDK, positioning ChatGPT as a central platform where third-party services like Apple Music and DoorDash run directly inside the chat interface.

• OpenAI introduced an App Directory that lets users browse and use third-party tools directly inside ChatGPT, rather than bouncing between separate apps or tabs.

• Existing “connectors” have been rebranded as apps, covering use cases like file search, deep research, and continuous data sync with external services.

• Interactive apps already include Spotify, Zillow, Apple Music, and DoorDash, enabling actions like playlist creation or building a grocery cart without leaving ChatGPT.

• OpenAI also opened its SDK, allowing developers to build native, interactive experiences that live entirely within the ChatGPT UI.

• Apps can optionally use ChatGPT Memory, raising both personalization potential and new questions around data usage and model training settings.

• Strategically, this looks like a clear move toward an AI app platform, though OpenAI has not yet explained how this ecosystem translates into durable profitability.

A: Use AI when the task is repetitive, structure-heavy, or requires first-draft thinking. Writing emails, summarizing meetings, preparing outlines, translating messy notes into something coherent. Do not use it when judgment, accountability, or final decision-making matters.

Q: What’s a simple daily workflow where AI actually saves time?

A: Meeting notes. If you’re still taking meeting notes, you’re doing something wrong. Give that to AI, there’s so many tools out there, or you can just build your own.

Q: What’s one mistake people make when rolling out AI tools at work?

A: Treating it like a feature instead of a whole mindset-workflow change. Dropping AI into a tool without changing how work is done leads to low adoption.
