Anthropic Commits to Cover Electricity Price Hikes Caused by Its Data Centers

Intelligence: Anthropic committed to cover electricity price increases consumers face from its data centers as the US AI sector needs at least 50 gigawatts of capacity over the next several years, with training a single frontier AI model soon requiring gigawatts of power. The company will pay 100% of grid infrastructure costs including transmission lines and substations that would otherwise pass to consumers.

  • Anthropic will procure net-new power generation to match data center needs, and where new generation isn't online yet, work with utilities and external experts to estimate and cover demand-driven price effects from its facilities.

  • The company is investing in curtailment systems that cut data center power usage during peak demand periods plus grid optimization tools to keep ratepayer prices lower, while current projects will create hundreds of permanent jobs and thousands of construction jobs.

  • Environmental commitments include deploying water-efficient cooling technologies and partnering with local leaders on initiatives that share AI benefits broadly, while Anthropic supports federal policies including permitting reform and faster transmission development to make bringing new energy online faster and cheaper.

  • Where Anthropic works with partners to develop data centers for its workloads, it makes commitments directly; where it leases capacity from existing data centers, the company is exploring further ways to address workload effects on prices.

📌Scrape Millions of Job Listings Using ChatGPT's API

Ghost jobs and offshore agencies have turned LinkedIn into a minefield. One developer used ChatGPT's API to scrape 5.3 million real job postings directly from company websites and open-sourced the prompt.

Steps:

  1. Identify target company career pages (most post jobs directly on their sites, bypassing LinkedIn entirely).

  2. Build a scraper to pull raw job posting HTML from each career page (Python + BeautifulSoup or Scrapy).

  3. Send the raw, unstructured job text to ChatGPT's API with a structured prompt asking it to return JSON (title, salary, YOE, location, remote status).

  4. Store the structured results in a database and build filters - IC vs. management, industry, job function, experience level.

  5. Check out the open-source prompt at github.com/hamedn and the live tool at Hiring.Cafe for inspiration.

Uber Eats Introduces Cart Assistant AI for Faster Grocery Shopping

Intelligence: Uber Eats launched Cart Assistant beta, an AI chatbot that automatically fills grocery carts by accepting text lists or uploaded images including handwritten lists or recipe screenshots. Users tap the purple Cart Assistant icon on store pages, enter or upload lists, then customize baskets by swapping for preferred brands with the system using previous orders to prioritize familiar items.

  • The feature helps Uber Eats compete with rivals already integrating AI chatbots. Instacart launched an OpenAI ChatGPT-powered search tool in 2023 for personalized recommendations, while DoorDash reportedly tested DashAI chatbot that same year.

  • Last year, both Uber Eats and DoorDash integrated with ChatGPT to streamline ordering. U.S. users browse restaurants in ChatGPT then purchase in Uber Eats, while DoorDash's integration lets users request meal plans and automatically add ingredients to carts.

  • Bloomberg reported in 2023 that Uber Eats was developing an AI-powered chatbot that would ask about budget and food preferences to help place orders and Cart Assistant appears to be that vision coming to fruition.

  • Uber Eats is rapidly investing in AI including tools for merchants like AI-generated menu descriptions, enhanced food photos, and customer review summaries as CTO Praveen Neppalli Naga says users wanted "a quicker way to shop" and the tool helps "get from idea to checkout in seconds."
