Sydney Developer Uses AI to Design a Personalized mRNA Cancer Vaccine for His Dog
Intelligence: Sydney data scientist Paul Conyngham used ChatGPT, AlphaFold, and $3,000 worth of DNA sequencing to design a personalized mRNA cancer vaccine for his rescue dog Rosie after chemotherapy failed to shrink her tumors, working with UNSW's RNA Institute to manufacture and administer it, resulting in a roughly 75% reduction in her tumor within weeks and what researchers are calling the first personalized cancer vaccine ever designed for a dog.

UNSW researchers say the case demonstrates that mRNA vaccine technology is being democratized, with Conyngham having no biology background, and raises the direct question of why the same approach isn't being rolled out to human cancer patients, a question the pharma industry is already answering, with Moderna and Merck's jointly developed personalized melanoma vaccine showing a 49% reduction in recurrence or death risk over five years and Phase 3 trials now underway.
BioNTech's personalized mRNA cancer vaccine showed immune responses persisting for nearly four years in a Phase 1 pancreatic cancer trial, with responding patients showing delayed tumor recurrence, and a larger Phase 2 trial is now enrolling globally across multiple cancer types.
Moderna and Merck's melanoma vaccine could be priced similarly to Keytruda at around $200,000 per patient, with Jefferies analysts projecting multibillion-dollar peak sales in melanoma alone before accounting for lung, kidney, and bladder cancer programs also in trials.
More than 400 cancer vaccine trials have been initiated globally in the last three years, roughly 120 of which are testing mRNA-specific approaches, across a broader mRNA therapeutics market valued at $7.7 billion in 2025 and expected to grow significantly as oncology programs advance.

Robert Levine Uses ChatGPT for Every Step of His Home Sale, and Sold His House in 5 Days
Intelligence: Florida homeowner Robert Levine used ChatGPT to handle nearly every step of selling his Cooper City home. Pricing strategy, curb appeal recommendations, marketing materials, MLS listing, showing coordination, and contract drafting, receiving five offers within 72 hours of listing and signing a contract within 5 days, while estimating savings of roughly 3% of the total sale price by bypassing a traditional agent.

Levine hired a lawyer only to review legal documents, framing the experiment not as a replacement for real estate agents but as a demonstration of how AI tools are becoming a meaningful and accessible part of the home-selling process for buyers willing to invest time in learning them.
ChatGPT provided the most immediate value through a structured sale timeline, telling Levine exactly when to start packing, when to list, and which day of the week would maximize early offer volume, replacing the strategic guidance traditionally provided by an experienced agent.
Room repaints recommended by ChatGPT for maximum ROI, a Tuesday listing date, and AI-generated open house materials all contributed to a sale that exceeded Levine's expectations before the scheduled open house even took place.

Atlassian Cuts Around 1,600 Roles to Accelerate Investment in AI
Intelligence: Atlassian announced it is cutting 10% of its workforce, approximately 1,600 employees, to redirect resources toward AI investment, enterprise sales, and financial strengthening, with CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes framing the decision as a proactive response to a higher bar for what software companies must deliver on growth, profitability, speed, and value creation.

The move follows Block CEO Jack Dorsey's February announcement of more than 4,000 cuts, nearly half of Block's workforce, citing AI automation as the direct driver, with Dorsey predicting many other companies would reach the same conclusion.
Atlassian declined to specify which roles were cut or detail its post-layoff structure, but positioned the reduction as a strategic reallocation rather than a sign of financial distress, framing it as choosing to adapt ahead of market pressure rather than reacting to it.
The back-to-back announcements from Atlassian and Block signal an accelerating pattern among established tech companies of using AI investment as the stated justification for headcount reductions, normalizing workforce restructuring as a standard response to AI's expanding operational role.
